Infectious Diseases and Global Health brings clinical infectious diseases, microbiology and population health into one international editorial conversation.
Aims and scope
IDGH is being developed as an international scientific journal published from Madrid, Spain, by Asociación HEALTH4OL. It aims to advance reliable, clinically useful and socially relevant evidence on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and control of infections. It will welcome work from every region, with a particular commitment to exchange between Spain and Latin America.
The journal's proposed scope includes bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections; community and healthcare associated infections; emerging diseases; clinical and molecular microbiology; diagnostic evaluation and surveillance; antimicrobial resistance, new treatments and antimicrobial stewardship; HIV, sexually transmitted infections and viral hepatitis B, C and D; tropical medicine, migration, social determinants and community health; and implementation, operational and health services research.
Clinical relevance, sound methods and transparent reporting will take priority over novelty alone. Studies in underserved settings, rigorous negative results, replication and evaluations of real world programmes are within scope. Conclusions must remain proportionate to study design, uncertainty and local context.
Mission and vision
Our proposed mission is to connect evidence with decisions that improve prevention and care. Our vision is an accessible forum in which clinicians, laboratory scientists, public health professionals, communities and methodologists can examine evidence across settings and health systems. Participation and authorship should recognise local researchers and the communities involved.
Publisher and history
Asociación HEALTH4OL is the designated publisher. IDGH is a new journal in preparation in 2026; it has no previous volumes, confirmed indexing or assigned ISSN to announce. The publisher's complete registered name, tax identifier, address and legal representative must be verified before administrative submissions and completion of the legal notice.
Editorial independence
The Editor-in-Chief will be an individually appointed scientist. HEALTH4OL will provide publishing governance and resources. Editorial decisions will be based on scientific merit, ethics and scope, independently of donations, sponsorship and institutional interests. Sponsors will have no right to suppress findings or select reviewers. Conflicts involving editors will be handled by an independent editor.
Publication model
Diamond Open Access, with no author publication charges during the initial phase, is the proposed model, subject to formal approval and a sustainable budget. Continuous publication within an annual volume is proposed; the final schedule and launch date are not yet confirmed.
